New Prey for Antarctoraptor

Description

I´m pretty sure you all remember the unnamed dromaeosaurid foot found in Antarctica some years ago because I´ve been making a fuss about it for over a year, even tentatively naming it "Antarctoraptor". In case that animal ever gets an official scientific name I´d just like to remind everyone of who made them aware of it first. I´ve drawn it together with Antarctopelta, Taniwhasaurus, a titanosaur, Vegavis and a cariamiform, however it seems it wasn´t actually a contemporary of any of these animals as they´re either from the Santa Marta Formation or the Lopez de Bertodano Formation while the dromaeosaurid was found in the Snow Hill Island Formation which apparently lies somewhere inbetween.

But now scientists have finally described another dinosaur from that formation, the ornithopod Trinisaura santamartaensis. The genus name honours the geologist Dr. Trinidad (judging from the "-saura", a woman), the species name refers to the Santa Marta Cove where the Snow Hill Island Formation lies. Looking at the paper, the layers where Trinisaura and Antarctopelta were discovered are very close to each other, so maybe Antarctopelta hopefully lasted long enough to encounter Trinisaura (and thus this Antarctic raptor), after all.

The running Trinisaura is based on a Thescelosaurus skeleton by Luis Rey in Tom Holtz´s encyclopedia, the other dinosaurs were drawn mostly without references and that dead Trinisaura has a too slim body and way oversized head. But maybe that´s what you´re gonna look like if you´ve just been stomped by an Achillobator-sized dromaeosaur. Oh, and the Trinisaura also have highly speculative fuzz because even back in the Cretaceous the Antarctic was freaking cold!

Also, first Trinisaura on DeviantArt and seemingly the first on the internet, too. :D

2019 UPDATE: THIS DROMAEOSAURID HAS BEEN OFFICIALLY DESCRIBED AS IMPEROBATOR ANTARCTICUS.
